I've colored my hair at home twice, how long until I can color it again?

I'm 30 and I have naturally black hair. I had a lot of white hairs showing and wanted to color the white. But since I was going to color the white I decided I should try a new color altogether. So I went with a light brown but it turned my hair maroon. I conditioned it for a week and then colored it jet black thinking it would just go back to normal. Of course, now it's TOO black and I look goth, so I want to color it brown again. It's been a week since the most recent coloring. My hair has never been colored until now. Please don't tell me to go to the salon because it's too expensive. But I need some help!! Thank you!

Covering up jet black is going to be tough on hair that may already be damaged. Try using a semi-permanent, non-ammonia color so it won't damage your hair any further. This product will also help blend the old and the new color less drastically than a permanent color would.

wait a few more weeks to color it, because you are seriously damaging your hair by coloring it constantly and it takes a really long time to get your hair healthy again. You should use a root touch-up in the mean time, which is very inexpensive and only takes about ten minutes. The root touch up should be closer to the color you want.

sorry, but you messed up BAD.

black doesn't come out unless you bleach it.

but, since it's only been a week you should try washing your hair with baking soda mixed with your shampoo until it creates a 'paste' repeat it about 2-3 times and the black should wash out.

it's safe to color your hair every two weeks, so just condition every day and color yor hair as much as you please.

Black can never wash out, only bleach can remove it. The only thing you can do is wait for it to wash out to a soft black. Worst case scenario, you can buy some color remover at Sally Beauty, apply it and wait for your hair to turn an orangish color. Then apply a dark brown hair, most likely a ashy brown to counteract the orange color. If you do decide to go this route, your hair will be damage and you will have some breakage. Otherwise, you can go to a salon and have them do it to minimize damage, but that will cost you about $70-$300 to correct it, then then the color after that.
